Could the story of Jesus have been partially a religious rebellion 2000 years ago much like belief in the Flying Spaghetti Monster is a rebellion against the current religions of today?
Clearly there were troubles with religion back then, as evidenced by the story of Jesus and the moneychangers in the Temple – which is talked about in all four Gospels of the New Testament. Clearly there are troubles with religion today with all of the hate and terrorism that stems from the major religions.
Christian belief of Jesus as God was a fresh new way to look at belief of the Old Testament without having to sacrifice animals and attempting to bring connection between people (which had been lacking). Pastafarian belief in the Flying Spaghetti Monster is a fresh new way to look at the benefits of religion without the drawbacks of religious arrogance and attempting to bring connection between people (which has been lacking).
Pastafarian belief has just been granted the opportunity to become an official religion in Poland.
It may seem like a joke, but I’m not so sure that it is. Pastafarianism may be coming like a thief in the night. Who would possibly take the threat of a Flying Spaghetti Monster seriously?
